Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area
2025-12-31
With the increasingly close social and economic interactions in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, the demand for legal services has also grown rapidly. However, the current situation of “one country, two systems, three jurisdictions” in the Greater Bay Area has hindered the development of the legal service industry, which makes it urgent to explore paths for the integration of legal services among the three regions. By analyzing the practice of integration in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, we find there are some problems in the integrated development of the legal service industry in the Greater Bay Area, including excessive restrictions on lawyers practicing in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, backward legislation in Hong Kong and Macau regarding the integration of the legal service industry and insufficient coverage of legal service integration. Combined with the actual situation of the construction of the Greater Bay Area, corresponding solutions are proposed: gradually reducing restrictions on the practice of lawyers of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau, promoting the opening of legal service industry in Hong Kong and Macau to the mainland and facilitating full coverage of the integration of the legal service industry in the Greater Bay Area.
